Director's statement

A Horacio is a short film that is inspired by showing a reflection about old age, a stage in life in which many elderly people are affected by various diseases, including Alzheimer's.

This silent disease attacks one of the most precious assets of people: memory. It is precisely those kinds of stories that, as a director, I am interested in telling and taking to the screen, in order to show realities of life to which we can become involved in our daily lives.

This disease, which causes sadness, also brings the possibility of facing it with love. The story reflects the life of an old man who lives in solitude, like the reality of most of the old people in the world whose stories do not usually come to light, becoming anonymous characters for society.

The story takes place in Horacio's apartment with the intention of transmitting the lonely atmosphere in which he unfolds. This environment has a photographic and artistic proposal that is designed in order to show Horacio's home from a treatment inspired by naturalism and realism.

The justification of the plants, as the main element of the story, consists in associating plants as a source of life vs. Horacio's memory that is closer to sunset.

Being a short film inspired by realism and the daily life of its main character, A Horacio offers an appropriate audiovisual narrative that encompass all areas of film production: direction, photography, art, production, post-production, sound and music.
